A structure designed to last

The project involved the design, manufacturing and delivery of a complete metal structure for an industrial production unit in Lyon, France. The project required a rigorous technical approach, with special attention to operational loads and the seismic requirements of the area.

SCARSMETAL managed the entire process — from technical study and structural sizing to workshop manufacturing and shipping. The structure includes a main hall, secondary structures, metal roofing and access mezzanines.

The delivery deadline of 14 weeks, considered challenging for the scale of the project, was strictly met thanks to industrial organization and quality control implemented at each production stage.

All elements were manufactured according to EN 1090-2 standard, with complete raw material traceability and a technical dossier delivered with the project.

Technical challenges overcome

Each project brings specific constraints. These were the main challenges of this work.

01

28-meter spans

The main hall required roof trusses with 28m clear spans, optimized to minimize weight while maintaining the structural stiffness required by Eurocode 3.

02

Seismic zone Z3

The site location requires Z3 seismic compliance. The structure was designed with specific bracing and energy dissipating connections.

03

14-week deadline

The client's production startup was conditional on the deadline. We organized production in parallel by zones to ensure strict compliance.

04

20t crane load

The main hall integrates a 20-ton overhead crane. Brackets and rails were dimensioned with ±1mm tolerances over 80 linear meters.

05

C4 corrosion protection

Aggressive industrial environment required hot-dip galvanizing + duplex paint system, with 25-year protection guarantee according to EN ISO 12944.

06

Workshop pre-assembly

The 3 halls were pre-assembled in the workshop for complete geometric validation before shipping, eliminating the risk of on-site errors 1200km from the factory.
